Muirfield - Virtual Backyard Design

Meet Muirfield, my latest virtual backyard design project!

In this case, I developed plans for a new build backyard. I provided three design concepts - in a good/better/best approach that met different budget levels. As with all projects, all options got created in 3D, but the final selection got created as a high definition, photo realistic rendering.

Goals

• Explore different backyard installation options via 3D renderings

Before

• Entirely unfinished

• Slight dip in terrain about 20-30 feet off house

Design 1

• Added dining area covered by a pergola, open air firepit with adirondack chairs and seating area covered by a pavilion

• Added privacy trees on either side of the property

• Grade change overcome by structure of hardscaping and grading of mulch/plants

Design 2

• Moved firepit area behind dining area to allow for larger space

• Moved pavilion area to keep overall footprint cohesive

• Replaced prior firepit area with mulch/plants and cooking area with counter seating

• Replaced prior cooking area with reconfigured vegetable garden and additional landscaping

Design 3

• Kept floorplan/layout of option 2 but added multi-level elements and corresponding seat walls

• Replaced vegetable gardens with landscaping
